Last Friday, at school, my team threw me a baby shower. Once again, I got amazingly generous gifts from the women that I work with. Once again, I marveled at how *everyone* takes such joy in a baby. I have had women who don't talk to me all that often, stop by my room to give me a hug and tell me how excited they are for me. Paras and interns give me gifts when we've exchanged only the casual hello as we pass in the hallway. And the women who are more recent moms give me the practical (but often more expensive!) gifts that they just know I'll need. And everyone, from the custodian to the kitchen staff, the teachers to the interns, stops often to ask how I'm doing, how I feel and if I'm ready. I know I've said it before, more than once even, but I am so incredibly blessed. A new teacher quickly discovers that they learn more from one week of classroom experience than four years of formal education. In fact, the real learning begins the moment the classroom door closes and you are faced with a class of students who are looking to you for the answers. Well, the same is true in life: the moment your formal education ends, your life's education begins. Learn along with me....
